CCDHH was established on June 1, 2000 as a Type II agency under the Department of Human Services to address the needs and concerns of Colorado’s Deaf and Hard of Hearing population.

CCDHH is governed by a seven-member Commission appointed by the Governor for a term of four years each, with all programs and daily operations administered by a Director. 

Programs include:

  1. Information and Referral.
  2. Telecommunications Equipment Distribution Program.
  3. Legal Auxiliary Services Program.
  4. Education and training for consumers and state agencies.
  5. System-level advocacy assisting state agencies to improve communication accessiblity. 

The Commissioners establishes policies that direct the staff to take a course of action to meet CCDHH’s mission.
